Don’t you love it when a story has a happy ending?

Columbia Bible College’s women’s basketball team, with the school being an evangelical Mennonite Bible College located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, landed themselves sweet revenge Saturday.

Earlier in the campaign, CBC were up against sanctions that were shot down from the PACWEST Athletic Conference stemming from abuse allegations against a biological male opponent at another institution. Taylor Claggett, the head coach of Columbia Bible College, was and still is suspended while the investigation has been going on. CBC was banned from being able to host PACWEST conference tournament games.

The claims link to an Oct. 2024 game taking on Vancouver Island University.

In the contest, trans athlete Harriette Mackenzie made allegations that Claggett  “cornered one of our athletic staff and went on a tirade about how I shouldn’t be allowed to play.” Mackenzie also claimed that players from Columbia Bible College committed purposeful fouls that were excessive. “I got two-hand chucked to the ground by No. 13 without a play on the ball in sight, then head coach Clagett can be seen applauding in support,” posted Mackenzie.

VIU went on to forfeit another game where they were taking on CBC, claiming it was because of concerns over Mackenzie’s safety.

Despite all of the drama, allegations and not having their coach, however, Columbia Bible College walked out of the fire as winners.

After taking out the St. Mary’s Lightning in Saturday’s title game, the CBC Bearcats won the CCAA National Championship.
