Lord have mercy, the lack of self-awareness…
Lisa Byington, a play-by-play broadcaster for CBS Sports, unleashed an incredible amount of cringe while trying to rain down praise Sunday on USC guard Juju Watkins.
The Trojans were squaring off against the UCLA Bruins for the Big 10 women’s championship, with the Bruins walking away with the 72-67 victory and the chip. As far as Watkins, she was on point as usual putting up 29 points. (RELATED: Chad Baker-Mazara Costs Auburn Massive Rivalry Victory Against Alabama With Incredibly Boneheaded Violence)
Well, during the second quarter, Byington was trying to show some love to Watkins while she was shooting free throws. But uh … she did so in the most cringe way possible.
“JuJu Watkins has caught the women’s basketball world by storm,” Byington said. “Certainly lit the world of Los Angeles on fire.”
Yes, she actually said that … you can check out the video here.

I would expect this from an ESPN announcer, but a CBS one…? What are we doing?
I’m not gonna talk too much stuff though, ’cause I know my ass will be right in front of the television watching March Madness when it gets here.
We’re just getting started here 😏#MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/IsSVKmrpQD
