A beloved Indiana news anchor announced her sudden exit as she hints at the next move in her career.
Kit Hanley, a former Louisiana State University swim star and morning TV reporter for Fox59/CBS4 weekday, will make her last appearance on August 28.
'The past 2.5 years have truly been an answered prayer for this hometown girl,' Hanley wrote on Facebook.
Since taking her position, she has covered a plethora of high profile events, including the US Olympic Swimming Trials, the Pacers’ playoff run, and The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
'As for what’s next, I’ll still be right here in the Indianapolis area — just not on your TV,' Hanley added.
'I’ll be sharing more details about my next gig in the coming days/weeks, so stay tuned (it has something to do with sports…shocker!)'
Hanley was the captain of LSU's swim team, and after graduating in 2021, she covered the university's sports beat for USA TODAY.

She credited her news team with helping shape her reporting career, embracing her from the start and making the early mornings and 2am shifts 'bearable.'

Lastly, Hanley expressed her gratitude to her viewers, whom she warmly described as family.
'Thank you for your unwavering support, kind messages and encouragement,' she said.
'You’ve helped me grow not only as a journalist, but as a person. I truly couldn’t have done it without you all.'
In a statement to the Indy Star, the TV reporter highlighted the importance of local journalism.
'There is so much good in Central Indiana, and it deserves to be highlighted!" Hanley said.

She has not revealed details for her next career move, but hinted that it involved 'sports'
Hanley studied journalism at LSU and led the student-athlete council. She earned a varsity letter all four years and received a leadership award for her work during the pandemic.
She also helped launch a campaign for LSU’s first female statue, per her Fox59 bio.
While in Terre Haute, the reporter won the Southern Indiana Area Labor Federation Media Award for her story on the rise in union membership.
'We’ve made so many memories along the way, and, more importantly, lifelong friendships that I’ll cherish forever,' she said in her social media statement.
