Diablo 4’s March of the Goblins event launched as promised on March 4, 2025, but not everyone is able to dive right into this slightly revamped loot madness.
2025’s March of the Goblins promised big changes for a returning event. Six new Treasure Goblin types joined the game permanently – all distinguished by a different color for diverse loot drops.
You could farm new crafting materials and earn rewards through a reputation system. Goblins spawned more often, and even Avarice, the gold-loving world boss, got greedier. The event was set to be a major highlight.
Then came the problem. Patch 2.1.3, which introduced the event, was delayed for Xbox. Blizzard developers confirmed the issue on their forums around the time of the patch’s launch.
No March of the Goblins for Xbox players – at least not on time
Community Manager Rich Bantegui (filthierich) posted, “Patch 2.1.3 & March of the Goblins is currently delayed, and we are expecting an update for this to be available later today.” No further details have been shared, so far.

Naturally, Xbox players weren’t thrilled. Some vented their frustrations on social media. Others questioned why Blizzard hadn’t sorted this out earlier. After all, Diablo 4 has seen delays before.
Season 8 was already pushed back. Originally set for April 15, it’s now coming April 29. Blizzard’s Rod Fergusson assured players the delay was “in the spirit of serving the game, not the plan.” Additionally, the previously annual expansion schedule has been officially delayed, with the next expansion after VoH now set for release in 2026.
Now, with Patch 2.1.3’s Xbox delay, some wonder if Diablo 4 is struggling to keep up. These issues aren’t game-breaking, but they add up. The seasonal model demands a constant flow of content. When delays hit, frustration follows.
Diablo 4 is entering its second year. The loot is flashier, the Goblins are shinier, and the roadmap is full. But maybe it’s time to rethink the seasonal grind and go for an Immortal-based approach before it’s too late.
