Disgraced far-Right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos spoke out for the first time since his deportation from the United States on Tuesday, whining that he was treated like a gangbanger during his arrest.
ICE agents arrested Yiannopoulos, a proponent of mass deportations, last Thursday at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in Kenner, Louisiana. The agency deported him back to the United Kingdom on Friday.
Yiannopoulos sat down with Piers Morgan on Tuesday, lamenting his treatment by ICE.
“I didn’t really understand the physical reality of how institutionalized the brutality is in America,” Yiannopoulos said. “The manner in which they arrest you — they put you in manacles, your hands, your feet chained together. Everybody arrested is like an MS-13 gang member and it hurts a lot more than it looks like on television.”
“I was put from detention facility to a correction facility. Every three hours they were sort of trying to keep ahead of my lawyers so I couldn’t. … No one would tell me anything. I know it’s designed to be like that, but it was humiliating and it was disorienting … it was physically degrading, it was frightening. I don’t think I’ve ever been frightened like that before,” he said.
Yiannopoulos also shared that he’s experienced trauma as a result of his arrest.
“I’ve never been like this before, I tripped and kind of tumbled down the stairs a night or two ago,” Yiannopoulos said. “And I’m a clumsy person, so that’s not the rarest thing in the world, but it set something off from when I’ve been kind of shoved down a couple of steps. And I was weeping like an old woman for an hour.”
“I think maybe in the past I’ve been a little bit blasé when people talked about their trauma, a little bit cavalier when people talked about stuff kind of lingering with them, but I get it now. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone,” he added.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Yiannopoulos overstayed his visa and received a deportation order on July 22 after he failed to appear for an immigration hearing.
The self-described “ex-gay” said he had a green card and is married to an American citizen, his husband, who he claims to no longer “do the sex stuff” with.
He further claimed that federal officials sent notices to addresses he moved away from so they could secure a hearing he wouldn’t appear for. Yiannopoulos also said he believes authorities “canceled” his green card “without telling” him before his arrest.
“I didn’t need to overstay a visa, there were dozens of companies who could’ve sponsored me, and I’m married to an American,” he said.
