‘Disgraceful’: Anglican cathedral used for OnlyFans show footage

(LifeSiteNews) — An Anglican cathedral in Australia is facing criticism after allowing a reality TV show about OnlyFans pornography to film inside the church as part of a ceremony in which a prominent porn star reaffirmed her baptismal promises.

Lily Phillips, an OnlyFans porn star who is known for having sex with 101 men in one day, was welcomed at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral by Dean of the Cathedral Dr. Peter Catt to “reaffirm the promises she made in baptism,” in a clip of the reality show Turned On: Dirty Sexy Money.

“I don’t know if he’s going to accept me for what I do in my work life,” Phillips said before meeting the dean, referring to her participation in the porn industry. Earlier this year, Phillips told The Christian Post she intends to continue producing pornography, even after the affirmation of her baptismal promises.   

Snippets of the TV series, which features the lives of OnlyFans porn producers in Australia, show fellow OnlyFans women accompanying Phillips in St. John’s cathedral, all dressed immodestly. 

“I think it’s disgraceful,” said one Australian man regarding the cathedral’s participation in the reality show. “I think it’s ridiculous,” said another.

The Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane, Jeremy Greaves, has since apologized for the cathedral’s role in the TV series. In a letter published on behalf of the dean, who is currently on leave, he said the show was pitched as a documentary “that would explore faith, intention, and life’s complexities, through the experience of an individual who had previously been excluded from faith communities because of past involvement in sex work.”

He criticized the series as “nothing more than click-bait, reality TV content that shamelessly attempts to validate the porn industry.”

Greaves also said that he completely condemns “any attempt to validate an industry that exploits women and girls and contributes to degrading and unhealthy messaging around sex and sexuality.”

He explained the cathedral’s involvement as a result of “a number of gaps in our policies and procedures concerning approvals for filming in any of our churches or other properties.”

The Australia-based show features some of the world’s highest-earning OnlyFans porn producers, and highlights the enormous wealth they generate, heightening the appeal of the industry to young women.

As LifeSiteNews contributor Jonathon Van Maren has noted, OnlyFans is a subscriber-based platform which allows young women to prostitute themselves online, cutting out the industry executives and the porn sets and allowing performers to sell their bodies directly to a subscriber base.

OnlyFans is massively popular. As of 2026, the platform has over 4.6 million “creators” globally (not all of them pornographic), and over 305 million “fan accounts,” amounting to approximately the population of the U.S.

The platform has an estimated annual revenue of over $6.6 billion. Industry watchers and journalists frequently refer to OnlyFans as “the future of porn.”
