Employee at Hong Kong care home for mentally disabled allegedly raped female resident 4 times

An assistant warden at a care home run by Hong Kong’s largest NGO for people with intellectual disabilities allegedly raped a female resident on four separate occasions, in addition to sexually assaulting a male resident, according to court documents.

Chung Pui-kei, 38, was escorted to Fanling Court on Monday for a second hearing in the case linked to the Hong Chi Association. The allegations have also garnered widespread public attention and prompted city leader John Lee Chiu to weigh in.

According to a charge sheet submitted to the court, the defendant allegedly groped a man with intellectual disabilities and raped a woman at a hostel in Tai Po on August 3.

Chung is also suspected of raping the same woman on three other occasions at the same care home in July.

He faces four counts of rape and one of committing an act of gross indecency on a mentally incapacitated person.

Prosecutors said on Monday that police had received no further complaints from other residents in connection with the defendant.
