Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared the beginning of an era of “great and strong Turkey” during a speech in Ahlat, in the eastern part of the country, saying that Syria, Iraq and the entire region would move towards more peace and stability.
Erdogan said that Turks, Kurds and Arabs should unite as “brothers” and accused unnamed forces of trying to undermine Turkey and stability in the region.
He said those who seek to profit from terrorism or plunge the region into instability will be defeated, without specifying who he meant, Kathimerini reported.
“We know very well what your plans are,” Erdogan said, adding that Turkey also has its own plans and will not deviate from the chosen course.
He also said that peace, stability and brotherhood will prevail, declaring that the “Turkish Century” has begun.
He said the country’s 86 million citizens would benefit from a “new era for Turkey” amid ongoing instability in neighboring Syria and Iraq.
