One year after President Donald Trump surged law enforcement to Memphis, Tennessee, the numbers show that the historically crime-ridden city has become much safer.
Since the launch of Trump Memphis Safe Task Force on September 29, 2025, murders have fallen by 37%, sexual assaults by 30%, robbery by 47%, and aggravated assault by 29%, according to data shared by the U.S. Marshals Service with The Daily Wire.
“President Trump’s Memphis Safe Task Force has driven down violent crime in a city that was failed by extreme Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies,” White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis told The Daily Wire. “The Task Force has made more than 13,000 arrests including murderers, sex offenders, drug traffickers, and other violent criminals and has seized more than 2,200 illegal firearms. President Trump restored law and order and made Memphis safe again.”

The success of the Memphis crime crackdown has been driven by close cooperation with state officials, including Republican Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee National Guard. Polls have shown that the surge of law enforcement is overwhelmingly popular with Tennesseans.
Of the total 13,140 arrests, 135 were for murder, 1,406 for drug crimes, 1,303 for gun offenses, and 125 for sex offenses. Those arrested included 1,461 known gang members and 421 juveniles, according to the White House. The task force also seized 2,201 guns and found 189 missing children.
“The Memphis Safe Task Force has brought Memphis back to life,” Attorney General Todd Blanche told The Daily Wire. “In just one year, this coordinated effort has taken the keys to Memphis away from violent criminals and put them back in the hands of the law-abiding citizens who call this city home. Thanks to President Trump, Memphis is on its way to becoming the safest city in America.”

In a press release celebrating the one year anniversary of the crackdown, the Marshals listed notable arrests made during the year. These included the arrests of 25-year-old gang member China White for two murders that were committed in July 2020 and 52-year-old Alex Rodriguez, an illegal Honduran migrant, for child rape and aggravated sexual battery.
The Trump admin launched a similar crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., which resulted in over 16,000 arrests — including 35 murder suspects.
“The DC Safe Task Force showed immediate success when it started. President Trump saw that success from the USMS and our partners and told us to go do the exact same thing in the great city of Memphis,” said US Marshal Service Director Gadyaces Serralta. “We have been even more successful in Memphis.”
