A few lucky Malibu homes are miraculously still standing after they somehow escaped the Palisades Fire as nearly all the neighboring houses were reduced to ash.
Among the charred remains of luxurious million-dollar mansions along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, only a select few buildings survived after the inferno tore through the exclusive city — and is still burning out of control, aerial photos show.
One massive three-story home overlooking the Pacific Ocean appeared to have avoided significant damage even as rubble-piles of what were once houses still smoldered to its north and south in the wildfire’s wake.
The white $8 million mansion was built in 2000 and is owned by Waste Management CEO David Steiner, according to the Daily Mail.
A select few other structures were still intact — conspicuously standing tall among the wreckage, images show.
The vast majority of structures along Malibu’s Big Rock Beach were flattened in the blaze. The ocean, which was once blocked by numerous homes lining the scenic road, is now clearly visible.
The Palisades Fire — first reported in the Topanga State Park area of LA Tuesday morning — exploded to nearly 20,000 acres (31 square miles) in the Pacific Palisades, western Los Angeles and Malibu.
By Friday morning, crews had only contained 8 percent of the fire, according to Cal Fire.
The fire destroyed the homes of several celebrities — including Anthony Hopkins, Paris Hilton and Adrian Brody.
Four other wildfires are also raging in Los Angeles County. At least 10 people have been killed in the blazes, according to officials.
