Gayle King fans shared their concern for the broadcaster after she admitted to 'stepping out of my comfort zone' during a recent interview with musician and singer Shaboozey.

King, 69, interviewed the Grammy nominated star for CBS Mornings and ended up trying hard liquor for the very first time - and she was not impressed.

In a video posted on Instagram, King and Shaboozey - whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze - were seen sitting either side of a barrel with two bottles of the Tennessee whiskey Jack Daniel's.

'Do you really like Jack Daniel's?' King asked, referring to Shaboozey's hit track A Bar Song (Tipsy) which includes the lyrics: 'Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey. They know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history...'

Shaboozey told King: 'We got some history, we've had some fun together, especially recently,' before advising her to just 'take a little sip' of the alcohol.

The TV star admitted she was trying alcohol for the first time as she sipped on some Jack Daniel's

King seemed hesitant to try the drink but took a very slow sip, before quickly sharing her disgust and blurting out: 'Urgh! That is awful. That is the first time I've ever done this.

'Look what you made me do!' she joked to Shaboozey before she asked: 'Can I have some water please?'

'Gayle's over here getting tipsy!' Shaboozey commented, before admitting that she probably looks so good because she doesn't drink alcohol.

King's fans were quick to comment on the post and share their thoughts, as one person warned her: 'Careful with that brown liquor Gayle.'

Another person wrote: ''Nooo, don’t do it,' while a third fan suggested: 'Her first drink should’ve been something fruity… this would make a person NEVER want to drink again…'

Someone else commented: 'how in the world did she START with Jack????? Lawd hammercy!!!' while another person replied: 'lmfao that’s how you know our girl doesn’t drink cause what.'

A different Instagram user said: 'Jack Daniel’s? Lmao you should NOT have started with that! Worst hangover I ever experience. That sh*t would start a car no doubt.'

And another person told her: 'Better stay off the booze, Gayle! There's nothing wrong with being a non-drinker.'

Gayle looked her usual glamorous self in a striped sweater dress as she spoke to the singer about his history with Jack Daniel's

After taking the tiniest sip of the Tennessee whiskey, Gayle was visibly disgusted and said: 'That is awful!'

Gayle defended Justin Timberlake in the wake of his DWI arrest on June 18

Someone else added: 'Not sure why you’ve never drank alcohol - but it is totally ok that you haven’t - but I hope this didn’t send you down a dark path.'

King previously revealed she hasn't drunk alcohol since high school.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, published in November 2023, she said that the last time she drank was when she was a teenager at a Christian youth leadership conference.

'I threw up for three days,' she recalled. 'I never want to feel that way again. Oprah tells me there are very good wines I can try, but I don’t drink.'

King's interview with Shaboozey comes just months after she defended singer Justin Timberlake in the wake of his DWI arrest on June 18.

The Sexy Back singer, 43, was pulled over by cops in the early hours after he ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane while behind the wheel of his BMW X7.

After refusing a breathalyzer, Justin was slapped with a one year driving ban in New York. His mugshot has since gone viral

King discussed Timberlake's run in with the law on CBS Mornings alongside her co-hosts Tony Dokoupil, 43, and Nate Burleson, 42, hailing him a 'really great guy.'

'But Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy,' she said after the bulletin. 'Listen, this is clearly a mistake. I bet nobody knows it more than he does.'

Defending his character, she continued: 'He's not an irresponsible person. He's not reckless, careless.

'Clearly this is not a good thing. He knows that. I love when they stopped Billy Joel and he said, 'you know, wait, not everybody judge at this particular time'.'

She then added: 'Listen, driving drunk, there's never any excuse ever, ever.'
