GETTY
Standing at an elevation of 414 metres (1,358 feet), it is one of the most striking and easily accessible tors on the moor.
It is celebrated for its dramatic spires, panoramic vistas, deep ties to local folklore, and the adjacent remnants of a historic medieval village.
Local legend states the tor was created when a hunter named Bowerman disrupted a coven of witches.
In revenge, they turned the hunter into a nearby rock formation known as Bowerman's Nose and transformed his pack of hunting dogs into the jagged crest of Hound Tor.
