GTA 6 has new price rumors that fans won’t be happy about

A new price rumor for Grand Theft Auto 6 has surfaced, and one expert is predicting special editions could cost almost the same as an Xbox Series S. 

At the end of 2023, Rockstar Games finally gave Grand Theft Auto fans a sneak peek at GTA 6. The first trailer confirmed a return to Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, as fans will play through the story of Jason and Lucia.

Since then, Rockstar’s trademark silence has left some fans concerned. Many have questioned if the game will delayed and, when it is released, just how much they’ll have to fork out to pay for it.

Some experts and industry insiders have claimed the game will cost, at least, $100 for the base edition. That would see an increase from the usual $70 that gamers pay now for new releases.

However, if you’re a die-hard GTA fan, you may want a little more. Rockstar’s previous deluxe edition offerings have been popular – some of us are still trying to get the duffle bag from GTA 4. 

If you fall into this bracket, well, Anurag Reddy of Analytics Insight believes the special edition of GTA 6 could set you back around $250. 

“Collector’s editions, rumored at $250 with extras like artbooks or in-game perks, target diehards willing to splurge. GTA 5’s pre-orders reached $800 million; GTA 6’s higher price points and larger install base push projections skyward,” they say.

GTA 6 fans are growing impatient with Rockstar’s silence.

If this were to be the case, then a special edition of GTA 6 would cost almost as much as an Xbox Series S console. They currently retail for $299.

As noted, the price has been a hot topic within the GTA community. Game developers have even claimed that the industry is waiting on GTA 6 before the next shift in pricing. 

“Everyone’s just waiting for GTA 6 to do it,” Michael Douse, the Director of Publishing for Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios, said.
