GTA 6’s “advanced” weather system finally confirmed after years of rumors

After years of rumors, it has been confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will have an “advanced weather system,” that will really help those Floridian days when the sun doesn’t shine so brightly.

Over the last few years, there has been plenty of talk about just how realistic GTA 6 will be. One of the biggest talking points in that has been the weather too, seeing as Florida’s own weather has become increasingly unpredictable.

For the most part, the Sunshine State is just that – full of sunshine, basking in the humidity – but has also been devastated by hurricanes and tropical storms. Winter has also become bitterly cold at times.

There have long been rumors of GTA 6 having a unique weather system that will see Rockstar Games actually bring those powerful weather phenomena to the game, and that’s now been confirmed.

Ahead of their Grand Theft Auto 6-focused magazine, Game Informer revealed a preview of what fans can expect to hear about. In that, they mention the “never-before-seen” weather system that is in place.

“As a lifelong native of South Florida, I offer my homegrown perspective as I discuss with Rockstar never-before-shared features such as Grand Theft Auto VI’s advanced weather systems that simulate Florida’s less sunny weather phenomena,” writer Marcus Stewart said. 

They also noted that there is a “staggering amount” of wildlife in Leonida, and that Rockstar has created the “most culturally and aesthetically accurate and lifelike world to date.”

As noted, there has been some buzz around the weather system for a while. An Amazon listing for the game this year mentioned “dynamic weather,” while Rockstar job listings have also talked about “large-scale destruction” too.

A large part of the Florida experience was shown during the Extended Look at GTA 6 on Netflix, including the in-game versions of both the Keys and Everglades. 

In that, a zoo was mentioned, as well as a compendium of animals that players will have to study, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
