There's nothing better than checking into a hotel and making the most of the luxurious interior for a few days.
However, sometimes checking into a hotel room isn't quite the experience you may have hoped for.
Reddit users have shared their strange hotel experiences, showing the odd layouts and questionable design decisions of some hotel rooms they've experienced.
'Hotel I'm staying in with my mum has the shower open to the entire room,' one post read.
The user also attached a photo, to illustrate what they meant when they described the curious layout.
In the picture, the bed can be seen up against the wall - and curiously, the shower in the same room as the bed.
While there is a small half-sized divider covering the bottom of the shower, the top of the screen is very much open to the rest of the room.
There is a door behind the shower, presumably to the toilet.

The user said his dad was the one to book the room, which happened to have twin beds.
Other users chimed in with their own concerning bathroom layouts in hotel rooms they'd visited.
One user shared a photo from a Marriot hotel, pointing out a design flaw in the bathroom.
The shower had no door, with glass only covering half the shower - meaning the bathroom ended up covered in water.
'I get the whole minimal modern design but the design of the shower with just one glass on the side just doesn't work,' the guest complained. 'No matter how you adjust the shower head, water is still leaking out. Anyone else experienced the same thing or am I missing something?'
One user showed their room in a hotel in Amsterdam where the shower was somehow even more exposed.
In the picture, the shower is smack bang in the middle of the room - peculiarly, in a tube and not attached to anything.
Even worse, as many commenters pointed out, it was also directly in front of a window that wasn't frosted with two chairs pointed directly at it.

Hundreds of comments flooded the thread, sharing their thoughts on the exposed shower.
'Oh I stayed at this hotel many years ago and the look I had when I saw the shower. It inspired me to always check how the bathrooms look before booking,' one Reddit user said.
'This is all over the place right now and I can’t stand it. Typical “designer” vibe where “it looks good” but zero practicality,' blasted another.
'Am I the only one that looks through photos and room types before I pick a hotel and rent a room??' questioned another. 'I know sometimes there are emergencies but a lot of these posts are people not bothering to research the place they're staying.'
'Pretty sure most hotels I’ve bothered to look at show you one generic room for that tier and make a note that they’re not identical. So looking before booking still isn’t a guarantee,' pointed out another.
