Hailey Bieber is living her own “Love Story.”
The model attended an event at London’s Harry’s Bar on Tuesday night dressed in the same dress Carolyn Bessette Kennedy wore to her rehearsal dinner the night before her wedding to John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1996.
Bieber and her stylist, Dani Michelle, sourced the vintage gown from My Runway Archive, procuring the plunging look that designer Narciso Rodriguez adapted for the late Bessette.
Rodriguez, who was also the genius behind the late icon’s actual wedding gown, showed the look as part of his third Cerruti collection in 1997 — after her secret nuptials put him on the map in a major way — though the catwalk version was made from a completely sheer fishnet technique made with nude caviar beads.
He had lined it with a nude satin slip for Carolyn to wear for her Cumberland Island, Georgia wedding weekend.
As Bessette was planning her wedding, Rodriguez was consulting for Cerruti, designing the collection with his friend serving as a major muse.
The vintage purveyor where Bieber got her goods makes it clear that her midi dress “is not the same exact dress” that was worn by CBK on her wedding day eve.
In fact, there is a major mystery surrounding where the beloved fashion icon’s clothing could be today, including her trend-setting wedding gown and chic engagement ring.
While some of her most memorable looks have been sold at auction, it’s unclear where some of her more personal items ended up after her tragic 1999 death, though experts told Page Six Style they likely ended up with her family.
CBK wasn’t the only celeb who wore the famous dress; Kate Moss — who first met Rodriguez when he worked at Calvin Klein and she was chosen to model for the brand by Bessette Kennedy — modeled the gown in a smoldering Cerruti ad campaign.
This is not the first time that Bieber has taken a style cue from the world of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
Not only does the model channel her casual, minimalist ‘90s style regularly, but this past spring she re-create an iridescent sheer lace gown worn by Calvin Klein’s ex-wife Kelly, who was a dear friend of Carolyn’s, back in 1992.
