An Arizona couple is rejoicing after little gray dog they rescued from a busy highway has now been left in their care.

Luna, an old dog with a blind eye and partially malnourished, was found running frantically on Interstate 17 last weekend.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety was forced to shut down northbound lanes for few minutes while a trooper and a man tried catching her.

However, it was local Marshall Torres who managed to grab her when her leg got stuck in drainage.

'All in all, it was just a spur of the moment thing. I saw everybody doing their part, so I did my part,' said Torres.

He added that she bit him a few times but didn't hurt him.

'It got a second chance for a reason. It's here for a reason,' Torres told AZ Family

Rescuers noticed that Luna - who was named by Torres's children - had a collar but no tag and chip.

Luna, an old dog with a blind eye and partially malnourished, was rescued by local Marshall Torres on Interstate 17 last weekend and is now living with him and girlfriend Tricia DelCore

She is now living at his and girlfriend Tricia DelCore's house and will remain there if her owner is not found.

'Animals are really, they love us unconditionally. They deserve to be loved and treated good.

'Went from 99 percent sure you were getting squished to having a good home,' DelCore said.

'She's very, very fortunate,' said Torres.

They couple also said Luna is a good girl who is bathroom trained and gets along with their other dog.

They have also launched GoFundMe to raise money in order to groom and vaccinate Luna.

'My name is Tricia and we found a small dog on the I 17 freeway in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, January 5th. She is old, partially blind and malnourished.

'Her hair is extremely matted. Her nails are very long. She has not been well cared for in quite some time.

'We are asking for donations to get her vaccinations up-to-date, get her groomed and find her a forever home. Any help you can provide is appreciated, thank you in advance,' the page read.

As of now, the crowdfunding page has raised $365 out of its $500 goal.

This comes two months after a dog who was rescued by a Pennsylvania family after Hurricane Helene saved their lives just two weeks later

Rusty got a new lease on life after surviving Hurricane Helene when the Bannon family chose to adopt him from the hundreds of lost dogs they tried to find new homes for in the wake of the devastation.

Little did the Bannon family know that Rusty would return the favor when just two weeks later, he alerted Gabby Bannon, 29, of a growing fire in their kitchen in Eddystone.

'It's almost as if he was meant to come into our lives and meant to be there to save us,' she told Fox 29.
