President Donald Trump announced what he called "the biggest oil deal in world history" with Venezuela, securing majority US control over an estimated 65 billion barrels of oil reserves.
The agreement, negotiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth with Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez, grants a 25-year concession for oil fields containing roughly 21 percent of Venezuela's total proven reserves.
