Hong Kong firefighters have dismantled an illegal filling station in Fanling, arresting three men and seizing 13,000 liters of diesel with an estimated market value of about HK$325,000 (US$41,780).

The Fire Services Department said on Thursday that a dedicated task force discovered the station on Ma Sik Road during an operation the previous day.

In addition to the seized diesel, authorities found a licensed container truck and a large quantity of refuelling equipment.

Three suspects were arrested during the operation, a department spokesman said.

“They are suspected of violating the Fire Services (Fire Hazard Abatement) Regulation, the Dangerous Goods Ordinance and the Dangerous Goods (Control) Regulation, and will be prosecuted,” a spokesman said.

The truck’s licence has since been suspended and would be revoked if the holder was convicted, he added.
