Hong Kong’s mega-events in the first half of next year are expected to bring in 840,000 tourists, the government has said, as it released a list of more than 90 activities that will be held during the period.
Authorities on Tuesday revealed the 93 mega-events set to take place from January to June next year, a slight increase from the 87 initially announced for the first six months of 2024.
“At the beginning of this year, the government announced a series of measures to take proactive steps to promote collaboration and host various major events in Hong Kong,” said Michael Wong Wai-lun, the deputy financial secretary.
“We will continue to actively pursue this approach with an emphasis on both quality and quantity, striving to promote rich, diverse and multifaceted events across different sectors.”
New-to-Hong Kong events include the IBF World Cup bowling tournament to be held from January 5 to 14.
A showcase of 52 impressionist works by French masters Paul Cezanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, loaned from the Musee de l’Orangerie and Musee d’Orsay in France, will take place at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from January 17 to May 7.
