‘I Reject Your Sympathy’: Dad of Girl Catastrophically Injured in Crash with Illegal Migrant Unloads on Dems

There is another case in the news today involving an innocent American injured by leftist policies. 

On Tuesday, Marcus Coleman was on Capitol Hill to speak before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement at a hearing on sanctuary policies across the United States about his 7-year-old daughter Dalilah.

You probably know this case. President Trump mentioned it during the State of the Union, and you may remember the news story when it broke because it happened in June 2024 in California. An illegal alien from India, identified as Partap Singh, caused a multi-car pileup while driving a commercial 18-wheeler in the sanctuary state. He was traveling at 60 mph, according to the authorities, and failed to stop for traffic in a construction zone. 

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Department of Motor Vehicles had issued him a commercial driver’s license, and he caused this wreck. Dalilah was in a Toyota Corolla driven by her stepfather on their way from Bakersfield to Victorville when the crash occurred just after midnight. Dalilah, who was 5 years old at the time, was catastrophically injured. 

Her dad Marcus sat in front of that panel, which included Democrats like Jamie Raskin and Pramila Jayapal, and had a very strong message for them:

“I reject your guys’ sympathy, to be honest with you. There’s no way you guys are sorry. Not one of you guys have ever called me. Not one of you guys have ever reached out to me. Not one of you guys have ever sat there and seen me in the hallways and said, ‘Hey, sorry about your daughter.’ You guys do it right here while you guys are grandstanding on top of your soapbox. This is when you guys care. Right here inside this room is the only time you guys care. I’ve never received anything from anybody over here at all regarding my daughter, or my family, or anything… Nothing.

You guys have no pathway to anything. You guys want to sit there and talk about the pathway to citizenship. There is a pathway. It’s not jump the fence and apply… 

My daughter doesn’t deserve this. She didn’t ask for any of this. The people that jumped the fence did, though. They knew exactly what they were doing. They still chose to move forward in that direction. And every day something’s happening to somebody, and it is your guys’ fault. I hold each and every one of you responsible for it, and I always will.”

This poor man. The crash resulted in Dalilah’s inability to walk, talk, eat orally, or attend kindergarten as planned. She was in a coma for three weeks and required six months of hospital treatment before her family could bring her home. While in the hospital, she had a craniectomy and was without half of her skull for four months. She experienced a broken femur, skull fractures, and has since been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, and will need lifelong therapy. 

And yet you still have people like incumbent Sen. Ed Markey in Massachusetts winning his Democrat primary this week, saying we need to eliminate ICE. ICE, President Donald Trump, and his administration are the only ones stopping more illegals like the one driving that truck from coming into this country. If the Democrats had their way, that border would still be wide open. 

Dalilah’s Law, which is what Coleman has been advocating for, should not be controversial. It does nothing more than ensure that all commercial driver’s license holders understand English, road signs, and law enforcement officers.

It will place drivers who fail to meet the law’s requirements and safety standards out of service. It would require states to verify that they are not issuing these licenses to illegals, would significantly increase penalties for states failing to comply with the law, and would ban shady foreign dispatch services and brokers who have fueled a surge in freight fraud and cargo theft, as well as crackdown on commercial driver’s license mills, to ensure that drivers entering the industry are receiving adequate training. 

How do you oppose that? Why don’t you tell it to Dalilah, Ms. Jayapal and Sen. Markey? 

Let’s hope that bill gets passed. So far, it has been approved by committee, but it has not yet been considered by the full House, never mind had a vote or gone on to the Senate, and it needs to. I applaud Republicans for holding that hearing and calling attention to it.
