And the Jets! … well … remain the Jets.

It’s been a dreadful season for the New York Jets, and Tuesday saw another casualty claimed as general manager Joe Douglas was fired, according to an announcement from the Jets organization.

New York senior football adviser Phil Savage was chosen as the interim general manager of the franchise. From 2005-08, he was the Cleveland Browns’ GM. (RELATED: All Hell Nearly Breaks Loose Prior To Texans-Cowboys Rivalry Game As Giant Piece Of Metal Falls From AT&T Stadium Roof)

“Today, I informed Joe Douglas he will no longer serve as the General Manager of the New York Jets. I want to thank Joe for his commitment to the Jets over the last six years and wish him and his family the best moving forward,” said Jets owner Woody Johnson in an official statement.

Johnson also went on to say that New York “will begin the process to identify a new General Manager immediately.”

Douglas has been fired just seven weeks following head coach Robert Saleh being nixed, with the Jets going 1-5 since under the leadership of interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Because the New York Jets, that’s how. A franchise that I’ve always laughed at and always will laugh at.
