Justin Trudeau's ex-wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has been living the high life skiing while his career implodes on national television.

The glamorous former TV host has been tearing up the slopes in Red Mountain Resort while Trudeau officially resigned his role as Canadian Prime Minister on Monday.

Gregoire, 49, posted an Instagram reel showing her frolicking in the snow with their kids in the picturesque Rossland, west Canada mountains.

'Born to ski!' Gregoire said in a caption overlaying the dreamy video. 'Red Mountain slopes, powder and people; you rock! Thank you for an epic time! SHRED RED.'

Gregoire also wrote a lengthy caption detailing how she started skiing as a four-year-old when her father would tie plastic skis to her winter boots in Quebec.

'I would fall flat on my face and get back up with him laughing so hard and giving me the taste of self-deprecation and perseverance! I've never stopped since,' she wrote.

'The mountains, the sky, the wind (and yes the cold!!!) are my buddies and path to freedom. I feel liberated and strong when I'm ripping slopes whether in deep steep powder or at 80 km/h downhill!

'And now the ultimate dream is that my kids can follow us anywhere! We can learn to test our bodies and minds early in Nature…no matter where that is. Get out for some fresh air…it's medicine for the mind!'

Trudeau officially resigned as Canadian Prime Minister in an emotional speech on Monday

Meanwhile, Trudeau, 53, made an emotional resignation speech which capped off a spectacular fall from grace just days before Donald Trump enters office.

The move came after weeks of pressure from his colleagues in Canada's Liberal Party amid a significant rift over how to handle relations with the incoming president.

After his reelection, Trump announced a plan to introduce a 25 percent tariff on goods from Canada, which prompted Trudeau to try and clean-up his relationship with the U.S. president-elect before he is sworn into office later this month.

The day after Trump unveiled the idea, Trudeau, 53, immediately flew down to Mar-a-Lago in an attempt to execute damage control.

During that meeting, reports emerged detailing how Trudeau pleaded with Trump not to impose the tariffs and claimed it would kill Canada's economy.

To this, Trump suggested that the northern neighbors could become America's 51st state, and in following weeks mocked the Canadian leader by calling him Governor Trudeau.

The reason Trump wants to impose tariffs on Canada is to pressure Ottawa to do more to secure the border and stop leaking illegal immigrants into the U.S.

Trudeau's resignation comes the same day that Congress will move to certify the 2024 U.S. presidential election results as a victory for Trump and cement his forward movement to retaking office.

Trudeau split from his wife of 18 years Sophie Gregoire Trudeau in August 2023

The outgoing Canadian PM and Gregoire announced their split in matching Instagram posts shared in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

His office also released a statement to confirm they had reached a legal agreement and reveal that the pair will remain amicable, holidaying together soon with their three kids.

Gregoire has found love again with Ottawa pediatric surgeon Dr Marcos Bettolli. The two were seen leaving a ritzy restaurant together just six months after her split from Trudeau.

Canada's Globe and Mail previously reported that Trudeau and Gregoire would share custody of their three children.

Trudeau remained at Rideau Cottage with the children, while Gregoire moved to a different property in Ottawa.

The pair had been married since 2005 and share three children, the youngest of whom is nine.

Gregoire was a childhood friend and classmate of Trudeau's older brother Michel, who died in an avalanche in 1998 aged 23.

They began dating in 2003 after reconnecting as adults and were engaged a short time afterwards.
