Kai Trump, the 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump, detailed her emotional transition to college life in a video posted to her YouTube channel, capturing everything from early-morning team meetings to an unexpected bout of strep throat during her first week at the University of Miami.
The video documents her final days in Jupiter, Florida, before moving into her apartment to join the University of Miami women’s golf team as a freshman.
During the drive home after playing a round of golf before her move, Kai spoke about the stress of leaving her home routine behind.

"I’ve been, like, literally sobbing," she said.
"It’s just, like, really sad that I have to say goodbye to, like, everyone today. I’m not, like, a very emotional person at all, so this is, like, really weird for me to cry.

"I’m just struggling right now just, like, thinking about it, but, like, I’m excited."
Once Kai arrived in Miami, her best friend, Emma, helped her move in and brought along groceries to make sure she was eating during the busy move.
"Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven't eaten in like three days," Kai said in the video.

As classes began, the president’s granddaughter chronicled the early start to her athletic and academic responsibilities, noting a 7 a.m. team meeting on her first Monday.

"I’m very tired if you guys cannot tell by my face," she said while getting ready.

The vlog also highlighted her official team gear haul, including Miami-branded apparel and golf equipment, as well as her first team practice. However, her initial week on campus was interrupted when she fell ill shortly after classes began.

"I got sick with strep on Wednesday, my first week of school," Kai told viewers later in the vlog.
