First, they came for our unpasteurized dairy. Then, they came for our meat. Now, they’re coming for the greatest culinary bounty on God’s green earth.
“What to know about eating eggs as bird flu spreads,” writes Axios late Tuesday night. How about nothing? How about just stop talking?
This stunning piece is the latest example of the thinly veiled fearmongering that’s become the norm in the COVID era. Sure, there’s a new bird flu circulating, and the first person died this week. Who knows if it has something to do with the airborne strain with a 20-50% mortality rate that exists thanks to the mad experiments of our scientific establishment? Yet I still don’t want to hear about it. I will die a thousand deaths before I even consider giving up my six-egg breakfast sandwich each morning.

Granted, the piece admits the risk of contamination via egg consumption is “low” and it’s probably “safe” to maintain your breakfast routine. But merely asking the question at all is enough to titillate America’s newfound hypochondriac addiction to bio-fear. How many Respectable and Smart liberals will read this and think, “Well, I’ve done the cost-benefit analysis, and it’s just not worth the risk, it seems.” As we’ve seen countless times, it’s not hard for the new liberal cause du jour to snowball into a full on moral panic. And just wait until the government changes its tune, as we’ve also seen countless times, to provide a stamp of approval on their fear.
This doesn’t come in a vacuum. Our cultural and scientific arbiters all want us to move away from meat, dairy, eggs — anything natural and good for us. If they could snap their fingers and ban it all, they surely would. Instead, we’re left as the frog slowly boiling in a pot of seed oil stew. Don’t fall for the incremental fear mongering; making America healthy again starts one egg at a time.
