Lindsay Clancy murder trial reaches final day of evidence as psychiatrist returns before jury decides her fate: Live updates

The final Lindsay Clancy witness, forensic psychiatrist Dr Gregory Saathoff, will return to the stand today.

FBI forensic psychiatrist Dr Gregory Saathoff testified Tuesday as the prosecution's last rebuttal witness in the murder trial.

Saathoff, who interviewed Clancy by Zoom twice for a total of about 11 hours, revealed new details about her version of the killings.

Clancy told him that her hallucination - the voice - occurred when she was standing at the refrigerator.

She said she was making the children their dinner when Patrick called.

He had called at 5.33pm, but she missed it and called back one minute later.

After she returned the call, she said she then heard the voice.

However, Dr Saathoff testified that she told Dr Margaret Spinelli she heard it almost as soon as Patrick left the home, around 5.15pm.

Dr Gregory Saathoff testified on Wednesday that he believes Clancy had 'control' at the time of the killings.

The voice did not tell her where to kill the children, how to kill the children, what to use to kill the children, what order to kill the children, or how to kill herself, he said.

Given the small amount of time that Clancy had inside the home without Patrick, she had to commit the killings and then harm herself 'quickly and methodically,' he testified.

So being able to execute those decisions and also to take a phone call in that time 'indicated that she had control.'
