THE PLAIN OF JORDAN — Lot won first prize in a local Halloween couples costume contest this weekend after dressing up as a pepper shaker.
Though the judges felt the costume pushed the limits of good taste, its ingenuity was enough to bring home the top prize.
"Wow, that is brilliant. Super dark, but brilliant," said one of the judges, Ahaz. "We were a bit uncomfortable when he wheeled his wife in on a dolly, but you have to respect the commitment."
Despite the controversy, Lot said he was proud of their accomplishment and planned to display the first-place ribbon prominently on his wife. "We had talked for years about doing a couples costume," explained Lot. "She would always pick something, then change her mind a dozen times, and it would never actually happen. This year, she was pretty set, you might say. I know she would have been pumped to win"
At publishing time, tragedy had struck after Lot entered his wife in the apple-bobbing contest.
