A major fire has broken out in Nottingham city centre, causing road closures and tram disruptions.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) is now tackling a blaze at a residential property on Market Street which broke out late on Monday night.
The fire service urged people to avoid the area while its 12 engines are in attendance at the scene.
Roads are closed on Upper Parliament Street, Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street and Queen Street, while the Nottingham Tram has been stopped in both directions between Theatre Royal and Market Square.
In an update posted early on Tuesday morning, NFRS said: "Fire service crews remain on scene and are likely to be there for several more hours.
"Road closures and tram disruptions remain in place.
"Please avoid the area and find alternative routes if possible."
Residents in a building on the corner of Upper Parliament Street, close to Theatre Royal Nottingham, were ordered to evacuate by the service.

Around 40 people gathered outside shortly after 10pm as the inferno broke out.
Crews from the London Road, Stockhill, Carlton, Arnold, Stapleford, West Bridgford, Highfields, Ashfield, Mansfield, Hucknall, and Eastwood Fire Stations were all in attendance on he scene.
Residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed.
The fire has also caused the closure of several bus stops and routes.
Pictures from the scene shows smoke enveloping the city centre.
Large pillars of smoke were also seen rising from a residential building with a dental centre store front.
It remains unclear what caused the fire or if anyone has been injured.
