Minteh, Mitoma and Rutter Score in Impressive Away Win

Brighton heaped further disappointment on an underwhelming season for Manchester United with an impressive 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

The defeat leaves United mired in the bottom half of the table, 12 points off the top four and on course for their worst ever Premier League campaign. They have lost 10 of their 22 Premier League games this season, the earliest into a league campaign that they have hit double figures for defeats since 1989-90 under Alex Ferguson.

Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton, meanwhile, boosted their hopes of getting back into Europe with a second successive win following an eight-game winless run.

Yankubah Minteh opened the scoring with the first shot of the game after just five minutes, only for Bruno Fernandes to equalise from the spot after Joshua Zirkzee was fouled in the box.

But in the second half, Brighton took full control, with Minteh turning provider to set up Kaoru Mitoma, before Georginio Rutter pounced on a mistake from André Onana to make it 3-1. Only Bournemouth (11) and Fulham (10) have scored more goals via substitutes in the Premier League this season than Brighton (7).

It was the first time since 6 October that Brighton have scored three goals in a Premier League game, and Hürzeler will hope this win signals a return to form.

Brighton now sit ninth in the table, just four points off the top four.
