Ruud van Nistelrooy will not form part of Ruben Amorim's coaching staff and leaves Manchester United after taking charge as four matches as interim manager.

The legendary Dutch striker stepped into the Old Trafford dugout after Erik ten Hag was dismissed following a poor run of results, stopping the rot with three wins and a draw. Ruben Amorim was named Ten Hag's successor earlier this month and will start work during the November international break.

However, Van Nistelrooy has not been included in the incoming 39-year-old head coach's support staff, with United revealing he will now leave his position at the club.

A statement reads: "Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach. Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.

"We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford. Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.

"We will confirm the full men's first team coaching composition in due course."

While Van Nistelrooy departs, Amorim touched down at United's Carrington training complex on Monday afternoon after presiding over his final Sporting CP match on Sunday, a 4-2 victory over Braga.

The new head coach will get to work over the international break but his start to life in Manchester was hit by a delay in the confirmation of his visa, though United expect no further difficulties aside from the frustrating wait.

His first match comes away at Ipswich Town in a few weeks and the former Portugal international has already hinted he is likely to use a three-player defence when he takes charge of the squad.
