Man Utd players react to Ruben Amorim's first training session

Ruben Amorim is in the building.

After ironing out the wrinkles in his visa application, Manchester United's first-ever head coach was allowed to get on the training pitch. While several regulars were scattered across the four corners of the globe on international duty, a number of established players got their first taste of the Portuguese coach's tactical instructions.

The glowing reviews from fans feverishly watching the video feed were replicated by the players.

Marcus Rashford quickly took to social media to laud Amorim's work as a "top session". The England international has desperately struggled to produce any top output in a competitive setting, boasting just one Premier League goal over the last nine months.

Casemiro also offered a positive - if concise - appraisal of Amorim's session shortly after training had concluded. The Brazilian looked on his way out towards the end of Ten Hag's reign and didn't even make the squad for United's triumphant trip to Wembley for the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Casemiro only ended up staying at Old Trafford after a move to Saudi Arabia fell through.

However, his seal of approval is easy to come by. After training sessions overseen by Ten Hag in April and July of this year, Casemiro delivered the exact same social media post lauding a "top training".

While the likes of Diogo Dalot, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana all missed out, Amorim was able to welcome back some injured stars.

The scarcely spotted duo of Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro were in the full session. Both defenders are still waiting to make their first appearance of the season, but, encouragingly, appear to be close.

Fashion fan Kobbie Mainoo was also spotted on the pitch. The teenager has missed the last six weeks with a muscular injury and received whispered instructions from his new manager.

Mason Mount could theoretically line up alongside Mainoo in midfield if he can regain full match fitness. The injury-riddled playmaker earned some praise from Amorim, who hailed his "good movement".

Now, all that remains is translating the positive start on the training pitch to Ipswich Town's Portman Road for Amorim's first Premier League game on Sunday.
