Meghan Markle celebrated the success of her recently released Netflix show despite UK critics tearing it apart with scathing reviews.
“For more recipes, fun, and reasons to ‘Mmmm, ‘ check out the show — which in just 24 hours is already in the Top 10!” she captioned a promo from the show, which she shared via Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
“Thank you to all of you around the world who are tuning in! ❤️.”
As of Thursday morning, “With Love, Meghan” is ranked No. 6 in Netflix’s “Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. Today” section.
Markle — who now goes by the last name Sussex — released her much-awaited Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” on Tuesday. The show was originally set to premiere in January, but it was postponed out of respect for the Los Angeles wildfires.
In the eight-episode show, fans saw the “Suits” alum host friends and industry leaders as they learned how to host garden parties, cook and bake various dishes while sharing stories from their upbringing.
The Angeleno even opened up about her private life with Prince Harry and their two children — Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3 — after moving out of the UK and settling down in Montecito, Calif. in 2020.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, also made a brief appearance in the show’s finale when Markle, 43, hosted a garden party for friends and family.
The two shared a sweet moment of PDA while the British Armed Forces veteran gushed about how proud he was of her.
Nonetheless, Markle seemingly made a slight dig at her past royal life during her big finale speech, where she “raised a glass” to her new chapter.
“This feels like a new chapter that I am so excited that I get to share,” she said. “I’ve been able to learn from all of you so just thank you for the love and support!”
“And here we go, there’s a business!” she continued, referencing her newly released lifestyle brand, As Ever.
“All of that is just part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much,” she added. “So, thank you for loving me so much and celebrating with me!”
In the closing credits, she also gushed about how “grateful” she was for the experience, which helped her “reconnect with [her]self.”
Despite its light-hearted nature, UK critics slammed the show as “pointless” and “an exercise in narcissism.”
Daily Mail columnist Amanda Platell called the series “so awful it is almost compelling,” while the Guardian writer Stuart Heritage wrote a review dubbing the project “so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show.”
Heritage claimed there was “a lot of whining” from both Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, and that “the thirsty part of Meghan still exists.
Meanwhile, the Independent’s Katie Rosseinsky said the show “feels like a millennial blog come to life” and the “TV version” of Markle’s now-defunct lifestyle blog, the Tig, the critic also called the duchess’s presence “queasy and exhausting.”
The Telegraph’s Anita Singh went so far as to claim Markle doesn’t seem to have any real skills in the kitchen — despite co-authoring a cookbook in 2018.
These reviews were the opposite of the reviews coming from the US, with Harper’s Bazaar’s Bianca Betancourt believing that Markle is back where she belongs after returning to her lifestyle guru roots at the Tig.
Emily Burack of Town & Country Magazine noted that Markle’s “walls come down a bit” in the series.
Netflix has yet to announce whether “With Love, Meghan” is getting a second season.
