Meghan Markle’s former agent makes eyebrow-raising comment about duchess’ career after parting ways in 2025

Meghan Markle’s former agent, Ari Emanuel, thinks it’s “great” to no longer be working with her.

The businessman and media mogul confirmed he parted ways with her last year in an interview with the Sunday Times published Saturday. When asked where he thinks her career is heading, he gave a blunt reply.

“Here’s the great thing: I don’t have to think about that any more,” he said.

Emanuel is the executive chairman of entertainment and media agency WME Group, and his A-list clients have included Oprah Winfrey, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, Dwayne Johnson and Kim Kardashian.

Despite Emanuel’s comments, a spokesperson for WME told Page Six Tuesday that the agency still represents Markle as well as Archewell (her company with her husband, Prince Harry.)

Markle signed with WME in April 2023. Less than two years later, multiple sources told Page Six in February 2025 that WME had dropped Markle, though the agency denied it at the time, telling us in a statement, “WME continues to represent Meghan and Archewell.”

But we were told that the mother of two had not held any meetings with Emanuel since January 2024 — though she was believed to have met with her day-to-day agents.

An industry insider said the Duchess of Sussex was let go because she was “too demanding” and “difficult to work with.”

We also heard that Markle and Emanuel got into a dispute after the “Suits” alum had an outburst in January 2024, when she demanded a meeting “and expected decks and plans,” though it’s unclear if this was for herself or Archewell.

“Ari was done with her,” an insider said.

Markle signed her deal with WME to make her a “power player” in Hollywood, sources told Page Six back in May 2023.

“Even though she is, of course, an actress, this isn’t about movies or shows for Meghan to star in, it is about creating projects for her to produce – she wants to run the show,” an insider told us.

A second source told us, “Through the fact that Archewell is now repped by WME it bolsters Harry and Meghan’s bid to become power players in the production arena.”

Markle, 45, and Harry, 42, of course, have since moved back to the UK with their two children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

The couple still has multiple avenues to rake in serious cash. Harry can now command nearly $1 million for exclusive speaking engagements, a branding expert claimed to Page Six.

“Harry’s royal title and persona can still do damage to an event budget,” Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, exclusively told us earlier this month.

“For a keynote, he’s getting anywhere from $250,000 to $750,000 and for elite, exclusive events close to $1 million,” he continued.

Though Schiffer also told us about Harry’s charity appearances, “Not every one of these stops is a cash grab with hidden checks.”

He explained, “A lot of his microphone is largely going to be unpaid, but he’s getting the attention, and that keeps him in the spotlight and further bookable for other things.”
