Mendoza’s Southern Beer Festival Returns to General Alvear With Four Stages

Mendoza’s southern beer festival was officially presented this week: on Saturday, September 26, the Predio Ferial of General Alvear hosts the second Fiesta de la Cerveza del Sur Mendocino, with national rock acts, Cuyo bands and artisan brewers across four stages.

A Festival for Southern Mendoza

General Alvear, the agricultural hub of southern Mendoza, launched its own beer festival last year and is now consolidating it as a regional fixture.

The municipal government presented the 2026 edition on Wednesday, August 26, confirming the fairgrounds as the venue and September 26 as the date.

The event pairs the province’s growing craft beer scene with live music and local gastronomy, in a region better known for wine country to the north.

Four Stages, Three Generations of Rock

The bill mixes Argentine rock heritage with newer names: Divididos and León Gieco & La Vitale Band share top billing with cumbia-pop act La Delio Valdez and indie songwriter Lisandro Aristimuño.

Bandalos Chinos, Kapanga, La Franela, Yami Safdie, Piti Fernández, Maggie Cullen and a tribute to Los Enanitos Verdes fill out the four-stage grid, with DJ Pato Smink closing between sets.

Organizers describe a lineup built to cross generations — parents who grew up on Gieco next to teenagers streaming Yami Safdie.

Cuyo Bands Get a Home Stage

The festival reserves space for the region’s own scene: Aluhé from Mendoza, Los Manyines de Cuyo from San Luis, Ekiss from San Juan, Bruno Pinto from San Rafael and MIB from Malargüe.

General Alvear’s local acts — Terapeutas in Terapia, Atractor, Flor y Trueno and Circo Funeral — open their home festival.

For smaller bands, a slot before a provincial crowd of thousands is the year’s biggest shop window.

Beer, Food and the Local Economy

Artisan breweries anchor the fairgrounds alongside food stalls, in a format that has become a staple of Argentina’s interior festival circuit.

For General Alvear, the festival extends the tourist season beyond the grape harvest and spreads spending across hotels, restaurants and transport in the department.

Mendoza’s craft beer scene has grown steadily in the shadow of its wine industry, and southern festivals like this one give brewers direct access to drinkers.

The festival runs through the afternoon and night of Saturday, September 26, at the Predio Ferial on the edge of General Alvear town.

Tickets are sold online via Ticketek; organizers recommend buying ahead, as the inaugural edition drew capacity crowds.

General Alvear lies about 330 kilometers south of Mendoza city, roughly a three-and-a-half-hour drive on RN 143 and RP 153.
