Motorists across the UK are being warned of massive petrol and diesel prices that could catch them out, as millions travel for the bank holiday weekend.
RAC estimates suggest that more than 20 million people will have taken a leisure trip between Friday (August 28) and bank holiday Monday (August 31).
Around 3.4 million people are estimated to be travelling today as Britons make the most of the final days of the summer and school holidays.
However, as motorists travel across the country, they could find themselves at the mercy of huge petrol and diesel prices, especially if they're travelling on the motorway.
Speaking to GB News earlier this month, Emma Cochrane, consumer expert at the Competition and Markets Authority, called on drivers to ensure they are getting the best value for money when travelling.
She said: "Fuel prices can vary significantly between nearby petrol stations. You can quickly find the cheapest petrol and diesel on apps and websites using Fuel Finder data before you fill up.
"Fuel prices tend to be lower in places with lots of petrol stations competing for customers. Try not to leave filling up until you're on the motorway, as they are often more expensive than nearby petrol stations."
