"We thought, obviously, we'll have to judge exactly what the results are in a few months, really. But she did offer us a lot of support, she said previously that she wouldn't like to live here, that if the planning permission was legal then the law needs changing, and that in the old days, they used to build factories next to houses, but not now.

"So she's going away and her powers are limited, just like Andy Burnham said, powers as Mayor are limited, although there is a movement to give metropolitan Mayors new powers, and Bev was saying that she hopes that that's extended to industrial buildings like this as well.

"But she's going to go away and speak to certain people. We hope PLP, who ignored us from the start, she's going to speak to the leader of the Wigan council and she's in negotiations with whistle anyway. So we've got somebody in high office on our side."
