GOP Congresswoman Nancy Mace challenged Democratic colleague Jasmine Crockett to 'take it outside' during a vicious clash while members were meeting on Tuesday.
Congresswoman Crockett (D-Texas) was speaking during a House Oversight Committee meeting when she responded to comments by Mace.
'Somebody's campaign coffers really are struggling right now, so she's going to keep saying "trans trans trans" so that people will feel threatened, and child listen," Crockett said when Mace cut in.
'I am no child. Do not call me a child. I am no child. Don't even start,' the South Carolina Republican could be heard speaking over her.
'I'm a grown woman. I'm 47-years-old. I've broken more glass ceilings than you ever will,' Mace continued.
Crockett tried to reclaim her time to speak, and the committee Chairman James Comer tried to cut in, but Mace was not done.
'You will not do that. I am not a child. I am not a child. If you want to take it outside, we can do that,' the GOP lawmaker said.
Mace then pushed away the microphone as if to rise, but she did not stand up.
Rep. Nancy Mace asked to 'take it outside' in a hearing after Rep. Jasmine Crockett used 'child' while referring to her in a spat over trans rights
The eye-popping spat on Capitol Hill came as lawmakers were discussing subcommittees and civil rights.
Crockett had called for a civil rights subcommittee to be reinstituted to focus on protecting freedoms.
That's when Mace responded that she believes in civil rights for all Americans but slammed Democrats for talking about the right to privacy. She claimed the party 'can't define what a woman is and won't give women the right to privacy.'
'You all want men with penises, chicks with dicks, in the bathroom with us,' Mace declared in the hearing.
Mace argued it was hypocritical for Democrats to be discussing the right to privacy and civil rights.
Her comments come as the South Carolina congresswoman has been crusading against transgender women being allowed to use women's restrooms.
Ahead of the new Congress, Mace pushed a ban on trans women using women's restrooms on Capitol Hill just as the first trans member of Congress, Congresswoman Sarah McBride, was set to be sworn in.
Speaker Mike Johnson sided with Mace on the issue, but she has repeatedly focused on it ever since and continues to attack transpeople in her speeches and online.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has been on a crusade over transpeople and restrooms since she called for trans women to be banned from using women's restrooms at the U.S. Capitol last year
In the meeting on Tuesday, she accused Democrats of not respecting women, abuse victims and claimed they want women to have to undress in front of men in locker rooms.
She also used derogatory slur for a transperson and accused Democrats of stripping women's rights away.
That's when Crockett made the 'child' comment which sparked Mace to fire back about taking it outside.
In response to the escalating confrontation, Democratic Congressman Maxwell Frost accused Mace of inciting violence against another member while another lawmaker accused her of violating decorum rules.
But Mace shot back that her remarks were not inciting violence.

Congresswoman Crockett (D-Texas) slammed Mace's accusations that Democrats do not look out for women in the hearing
After a brief pause, Comer ruled that Mace's comments were ok. It was also questioned whether Crockett saying 'child' was belittling.
Eventually, the meeting got back on track, and Crockett was able to resume her remarks where she pushed back on the accusation that Democrats don't look out for women.
Crockett pointed out that her party pushed for the Equal Rights Amendment.
She also accused Mace of 'fantasizing' about the threat of trans people in locker rooms and bathrooms while she has yet to hear actual testimony about someone experiencing it.
The Texas lawmaker said of the 766,000 people she represents, she has never had a single constituent come to her and say they were concerned about being raped by a trans person.
