Naomi Osaka and Cordae have called it quits.
The professional tennis player announced via Instagram Stories on Monday that she and the rapper are “no longer in a relationship” after five years together.
“No bad blood at all,” the athlete, 27, claimed in her social media statement.
“He’s a great person and an awesome dad,” she continued. “Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing.”
Osaka concluded that she “was able to grow a lot from [their] experiences together” before splitting.
The Olympian and the songwriter, also 27, began dating in 2019.
Four years later, Osaka revealed that she was pregnant with their first baby, giving birth to daughter Shai in July 2023.
Giving birth was “traumatic” for Osaka, she revealed during an August 2024 Q&A session via Instagram.
At the time, she clarified that she does not want to give her little one “many more” siblings because of her experience.
Osaka and Cordae sparked breakup speculation three months after Shai’s arrival when the new mom shared cryptic uploads.
However, they appeared to still be going strong when Osaka spoke to InStyle about parenting in December 2023.
“We built a really good foundation,” she said at the time. “I don’t know if it’s because he’s just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other’s opinions.”
While Osaka took a step back from tennis during her pregnancy and postpartum experience, she returned to the court in 2024.
“I’m feeling pretty positive,” she gushed to ESPN last January. “Giving birth to my daughter changed my mindset a lot.
“It’s also made me realize that my world doesn’t have to revolve around me — which might also be a little selfish,” Osaka continued at the time. “I guess I’ve just found outer happiness and inner peace.”.”
