TEL AVIV — Disaster nearly struck FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 this morning after the pilot forgot to illuminate the "No Hijacking" sign.
As the Boeing 737 Max 8 flew through Israeli airspace, a Muslim terrorist on the plane noticed that the "No Hijacking" sign was switched off and quickly proceeded to violently seize control of the plane in an attempt to kill everyone on board.
"We really dodged a bullet," said FlyDubai CEO Ghaith Al-Ghaith. "Given our clientele, it is absolutely critical to keep the 'No Hijacking' sign illuminated at all times. We want to take this opportunity to remind all of our valued customers and crew members to please refrain from stabbing your pilot and putting the plane into a nosedive. Your safety is our top priority."
Passengers on Flight FZ1073 had reportedly noticed the deactivated sign prior to the attempted hijacking. "I felt a bit nervous not seeing the sign that says attacking the pilot with a machete is not allowed on this aircraft," said passenger Moshe Cohen. "You sort of take those things for granted, like not smoking on a plane. Turns out, those little signs are a lot more important than you think."
At publishing time, FlyDubai had decided to reconsider its practice of hiring co-pilots whose only experience was operating a paraglider.
