U.S. — A new study from the New York Sports Science Laboratory demonstrated that the NFL's new concussion-prevention helmets were proven to be 100% effective at keeping players from looking cool.

According to the data gathered, every single player who has worn the enormous, mushroom-adjacent helmets looked like an absolute dork, with zero exceptions.

"We have put these helmets through rigorous testing and reviewed thousands of hours of film. They are absolutely one-hundred-percent effective at preventing athletes from looking tough or cool," said lead researcher Dr. Stan Bartowski. "Players can have complete confidence that these 'Guardian Caps' will keep them safe from anyone thinking that they look intimidating or hardcore. No matter what an athlete looks like, that helmet will make them look like they're about to ride their bike off to math camp."

NFL players were left weighing the pros and cons of adopting the new helmets. "Sure, it might keep me from developing CTE. But then my brain will be able to recall how stupid I looked," said linebacker Marcell Johnson. "Do I want my neurons to function if they can perceive old photos of me with my head looking like a Mario Kart power-up? I don't know."

The NFL had reportedly begun studying the use of inflatable sumo suits in conjunction with Guardian Caps to prevent musculoskeletal injury. However, early trials have become bogged down by all of the researchers pointing and laughing at how stupid everyone looked.

At publishing time, the NFL had unveiled the even larger "Guardian Cap 2.0" with six feet of helmet padding in every direction.
