CV NEWS FEED // The Cardinal Newman Society, an organization that evaluates and recognizes authentically Catholic higher-education institutions, has released a list of summer programs for high school students at the recommended colleges and universities.
The Society’s list included Florida-based Ave Maria University, Benedictine College in Kansas, Franciscan University in Ohio, the University of Dallas, Walsh University in Ohio, the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, among several others.
Internationally, the Society also included the Catholic Institute of Technology in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, the University of Navarra in Spain, and Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College in Ontario, Canada, on its list.
The summer programs can help high school students experience an introduction to Catholic college education, according to the Society
“Summer programs are a great opportunity for high school students to strengthen their academic and extracurricular skills, grow in their spiritual lives, get a head-start on college visits, learn from distinguished professors, make lifelong friends and experience what faithful Catholic education is all about,” it stated
Programs range from one to two weeks, offering a variety of academic subjects including theology, computer science, liberal arts, and philosophy. According to Belmont Abbey College’s website, their summer program in North Carolina will feature whitewater rafting and intramural sports.
Scholarships are available for students who apply for select summer programs, according to the Society. Students are also eligible to receive college credit for their participation.
