The Japanese version of the Nintendo Direct had an exclusive Switch 2 game that was missing from the international reveal, and fans are losing their minds.
While all versions of the Nintendo Direct showcased big heavy hitters like Xenoblade Genesis, Kingdom Hearts 4, The Duskbloods, and the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake, there were a few noticeable omissions.
One of the biggest reveals exclusive to the Japan Direct was a remake of Touhou 6, an iconic bullet hell shooter known for its challenging bosses, incredibly catchy music, and iconic anime girl cast.
However, Nintendo fans have been surprised to learn that the game is getting an English release on September 10, 2026, despite it not getting any air time at the non-Japanese Direct.
Touhou 6 remake gets Switch 2 release
“The f*ck do you MEAN Touhou showed up in a Nintendo Direct??? lol ,” wrote one confused fan. “Genuine crime to not have it on the English direct cause I’ve been on a Touhou binge recently,” replied another.
Meanwhile, other commenters were keen to point out that the game’s international release makes its omission even more baffling. “Why was this excluded from the EN Directs, even if there’s an official EN translation with this remake?” said one commenter.

It wasn’t just the Touhou 6 remake announcement that was missing either, as fans have since discovered that popular visual novel Steins;Gate Re:Boot will also be coming to Switch 2, alongside Atelier Karia, and Tales of Eternia Remastered.
The latter two were shown very briefly in a montage towards the end of the English version of the presentation, so it’s very easy to miss. However, judging by the posts across social media, the discovery of these non-spotlighted Switch 2 games has led to some happy surprises.
