Ohio Man Dies After Woman Shoots Him In Groin After Jest: REPORT

A 77-year-old woman fatally shot Arthur Osborne, 58, Sunday night in the groin when allegedly he requested that she shoot him as a jest, according to court records.
Kathleen Geiger, the woman, was charged with reckless homicide as she believed the gun was not loaded when she aimed and shot it at the victim, court documents from Ohio’s Hamilton County Municipal Court obtained by WLWT5 News said.
Geiger maintained that she and Osborne were “engaged in harmless banter” when he made the request in jest, according to the documents. She gave medical aid to Osborne after the alleged shooting and contacted police. Cincinnati police said they responded to the scene and Osborne was declared deceased there.
Geiger was placed under a $10,000 bond and is expected to reappear in court on Oct. 31.
FOX19 NOW legal analyst Mark Krumbein posited that Geiger’s actions after allegedly shooting Osborne could help her case. “I think that’s a positive for her that she stayed there, tried to provide aid, called 911, and cooperated with the police, apparently, because they have her statement,” he said. “So, I would say that those are all positives for her.”
Geiger’s next appearance in court would determine if a grand jury would indict her, the outlet reported. Krumbein said the grand jury could either downgrade or increase the severity of the charge against her.
Prosecutors said during the arraignment that her presumption that the gun was unloaded before she allegedly shot Osborne was “no excuse.”
“Everyone who possesses a firearm has a responsibility to do it responsibly. You never point a firearm at anything and pull the trigger unless you intend to destroy it. The defendant pointed a firearm at someone and pulled the trigger, resulting in their death,” a prosecutor argued.

Reckless homicide sounds about right ... along with “Felonious Stupidity in the First Degree”. Both of them committed the second offense. One of them has already been punished for it.
