Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper left fans outraged after they joked about LSD with DJ Diplo during an 'unhinged' NYE interview Tuesday.
Cohen, 56, and Cooper, 57, were interviewing the LA based producer, 46, for CNN when he admitted to 'tripping' on the hallucinogenic drug during the chat - which left the hosts cracking up with laughter but viewers fuming at the late night exchange.
The drama unfolded when Cohen asked Diplo: 'I’m so curious. What’s the most conventional place that you’ve done LSD?
A bemused Diplo responded: 'Right now. I did some on the helicopter on the way here.'
The star then said it was a 'light trip' as he had been 'microdosing LSD' but may have 'macrodosed' earlier on in the day.
Cohen said: 'Was it the LSD spray?' to which Diplo responded: 'No I got like the little droplets.'

Cohen responded: 'We should point out it’s illegal right?' before Diplo said: 'We should just cut this' with Cohen retorting: 'Cut it? It’s live!'
Cohen later told Cooper: 'I wish I was Diplo, I’ve got to say. I just think he has a fun, cool lifestyle. Can you imagine his lifestyle? ‘I’m Diplo. I do things.'
He later quipped to the audience: 'We don’t recommend this at home.'
Fans watching with their families took their outrage to social media with one writing: 'Yes. Let’s laugh and giggle and promote drug use on live tv. Idiotic network.'
'Gone are the days where you could watch this with your family. Sick.'
Another typed: 'Bro really, kids watching and @andersoncooper making a fool of himself drinking.'
A third wrote: 'I remember a time if someone admitted being on an illegal drug on the air it would make the interview pretty awkward. Illegal drugs are not a laughing matter IMO. Maybe some people find humor in them because they personally don’t care about the destruction caused by the drugs.'
Others wrote: 'LSD is a highly illegal substance. He could be investigated for criminal acts for this. And those two television hosts made light of the subject.

'Is Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper (I guess they’re both Andy’s according to Whitney Cummings) the MOST inappropriate hosts EVER. Every New Year’s Eve they have to act like entitled, giggly girls on national TV. Is it just me that thinks this is odd as hell and so unprofessional?

Under California law, LSD is classified as a Schedule I hallucinogenic controlled substance and microdosing the substance is illegal.
Back in March 2023, the star revealed he had run the LA marathon while on LSD.
In a video recap, Diplo had showed himself adding several drops of LSD into his water bottle for the race.
He said: 'I think you need like, four drops of LSD.'
He commented on his LSD usage during the marathon in his chat with Cohen and Cooper.
'It makes your mind and body worker faster... it's a little hack.'
'I think it's illegal in the Olympics though.'
