Overwatch fans are loving the new hero, Shion, with some even using her to create Mario Kart-style lobbies where players race to the finish line.

The Season 3 update was another big one for Overwatch, bringing the new Neon Junction map and a boatload of skins and Mythics. But the marquee addition was Shion, a new DPS character armed with two pistols and a dash.

Her most unique ability, Joyride, allows her to ride a motorcycle and speed across the map, before eventually throwing it at enemies for big damage.

While it’s incredibly useful in regular Overwatch matches, fans have wasted no time putting it to other uses.

Shion’s motorbike ability has Overwatch players racing

Using the hero shooter’s Custom Games feature, players have created their own mini races made up exclusively of Shion. By adjusting the settings, her motorbike ability can last for 20 seconds, more than enough time to race from one side of a map to another.

Although there aren’t any items to pick up like Blue Shells, it does encourage players to look for shortcuts to give them an advantage.

The idea was first realized by Japanese YouTuber ‘タイの英雄_ow‘ and can be found using the code BFNV0, but it appears to be limited to Japan. Don’t worry, though; there are similar versions in other regions.

You can also create your own variant of the race pretty easily. All you have to do is turn off the ability to select heroes other than Shion, turn the Joyride length up to the maximum, and you’re all set. If you want to make things even more interesting, you can even adjust the max speed of the bike to make it faster.

While it’s unlikely to become anyone’s main Overwatch mode, it’s still a fun little distraction if you need a break from grinding through the Competitive Ranks.
