CV NEWS FEED // Ahead of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court justice election next month, a pro-life political action committee is sending out student canvassers to make sure the next Supreme Court justice defends unborn lives.

Women Speak Out PAC began dispatching canvassers March 6 to support the election of Brad Schimel as a state Supreme Court justice as the April 1 election draws near.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-life America, a partner of Women Speak Out PAC, described Schimel as a candidate ”who respects life, the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Schimel has served as a judge in Wisconsin’s Waukesha County District Court since 2019 and as the Wisconsin attorney general from 2015 to 2019, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Before the Dobbs decision overturned Roe V. Wade, Schimel stated that he supported Wisconsin’s 1849 which banned all abortions without exception, according to the Sentinel. In 2024, he stated that Wisconsin’s constitution does not include a right to abortion.

The Sentinel states that he recently softened his stance on abortion, saying that he would respect the will of voters–adding, however, that Wisconsin does not have a process allowing voters to change state law through referendums.

His opponent, Susan Crawford, is currently a judge in Dane County Circuit Court Branch 1. In her former position as a prosecutor she defended Planned Parenthood in a case against laws that would require abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges and protect women from being coerced into abortions.

Kelsey Pritchard, political communications director for the Women Speak Out PAC, called Crawford “an extreme abortion activist” in her work against life.

“Thousands of lives a year are at stake in this upcoming state Supreme Court election,” Pritchard stated. “Not only that, parental rights and informed consent will be on the chopping block as far-left activists seek to use the courts to expand abortion on demand with no limits across America. We must defeat Susan Crawford and the radical Left.”
