CV NEWS FEED // A Catholic youth conference in London has sold out the OVO Arena Wembley and is set to draw 10,000 young people from England and Wales.
The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales reports that the Flame youth conference will feature speakers and live music, and that Cardinal Vincent Nichols will lead Eucharistic Adoration at the rally. This year’s theme is “Unstoppable: Fan the Flame of Hope.”
“At a time when Pope Francis is so deeply in our thoughts and prayers, it is a particular blessing to be inspired by his Jubilee theme, Pilgrims of Hope,” said Father Dominic Howarth, co-chair of the Flame Core Group and a priest of Brentwood Diocese. “Flame 2025 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of many, many teachers, chaplains, priests and youth leaders from across the country — some of them will be leaving with groups of young people at 4am, and returning well after midnight!”
The speakers include survival expert Bear Grylls, Hallow app cofounder Bryan Enriquez, and disability advocate Isaac Harvey.
Grylls, a former member of the British Special Forces, was the star of Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild, which ran from 2006 to 2019. He is also releasing a new book called The Greatest Story Ever Told: An Eyewitness Account, and every attendee of the conference will receive a copy.
“May God bless you and all who you share this with,” Grylls said ahead of the event. “Remember: with the Almighty within us we are unstoppable!”
Harvey was born without arms and with underdeveloped legs, and he has used his own challenges to advocate for others with disabilities. He has modeled for London Fashion Week and is the president of the Wheel and Wheelchairs, a group that allows wheelchair users to experience wheeled sports with the help of skaters.
Musicians Guvna B, Lily-Jo, World Youth Dance Crew, One Hope Project, and Adenike Adewale will all perform at the event.
