The Palestinian Authority continues to demonize President-Elect Donald Trump, since his reelection. A regular columnist for the PA’s official daily, who is also a former senior advisor to the former PA prime minister, defined Trump as “a racist… full of racism… an extremist.” However, he added that if “we act wisely and cleverly,” knowing Trump’s “mentality,” the PA could change him:
Regular columnist for official PA daily Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul: “You know, [US President-Elect Donald] Trump is a racist president, he is full of racism and is an extremist”
Official PA TV host: “And a populist.”
Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul: “And a populist. But at the same time, he is a dealmaker. Is there an Arab Palestinian player who can ratify a deal with Trump in order to do a re-examination? It depends. I think that brother [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas], who congratulated, sent a congratulatory telegram, and afterwards called [Trump] is a step on the path to bridging the ties with this man… If we act wisely and cleverly according to the logic and mentality of Trump, it will be possible to cause a positive change in direction.”
