Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn spent more than two decades projecting the image of a conservative sentinel before voters saw through the mask.
Cornyn lost his primary race in May, when Texans became increasingly aware that despite his self-described MAGA allegiance, he was nothing more than a special interest goon. The rise of the H-1B visa population has become a hot-button issue among Texans. Only recently did voters connect that population to a Senate institution Cornyn built.
