Mexico’s PGA Tour stop in Los Cabos turns 20 this year, and a day on the course costs from US$35. Here is what visitors from the United States need to know.

The World Wide Technology Championship brings the PGA Tour to Los Cabos, Mexico, from Thursday, 5 November, to Sunday, 8 November 2026. It is the 20th edition of the tournament, which its organisers call Mexico’s pioneering PGA Tour event.

For US visitors, the draw is access: a general admission day ticket costs from US$35 on the official site. Children aged 15 and under get in free with a paying adult, up to two per ticket.

Why the Tournament Matters

The event began in 2007 in the Riviera Maya, near Cancún, and moved to Los Cabos in 2023. Its first winner was Fred Funk, an American, and this year’s edition is its 20th, the organisers said in May.

Tournament director Joe Mazzeo said the organisers plan to stage their best and most successful event yet. A field of 120 PGA Tour professionals will play 72 holes of stroke play over four days.

The purse is US$6 million, and the winner earns 500 FedExCup Fall points, according to the PGA Tour schedule. The FedExCup Fall is the tour’s autumn series, which starts after the Tour Championship in late August.

Ben Griffin, an American, is the defending champion. He won in 2025 at 29 under par, a tournament-record 259 over 72 holes, and earned US$1.08 million.

Over 19 editions, 33 Mexican players have competed, and the organisers say the broadcast reaches more than 220 countries and territories. Total prize money, including this year, will pass US$118 million, which they call a Latin American record.

The week before, the VidantaWorld Mexico Open runs from 29 October to 1 November at Vidanta Vallarta, near Puerto Vallarta. That gives Mexico two PGA Tour events in consecutive weeks this autumn.

The Course and the Week’s Schedule

El Cardonal is one of the courses at Diamante, a private resort on the Pacific coast of Cabo San Lucas. Diamante also has the Dunes course by Davis Love III, a former PGA Championship winner, and the 12-hole Oasis Short Course.

Tiger Woods’ design firm, TGR Design, built El Cardonal, and Diamante says another 18-hole Woods course, the Legacy Club, is coming. Mexico News Daily reported in July that its opening has slipped to early 2027.

Tournament week starts on Monday, 2 November, with practice rounds and a Kick-Off Pro-Am, where amateurs play alongside professionals. Wednesday, 4 November, is given over to the main Pro-Am.

The four competitive rounds run from Thursday to Sunday. Spectator gates open at 6 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 8 a.m. at the weekend, closing at 7 p.m.

On Thursday and Friday, players tee off in a morning and an afternoon wave from the first and tenth holes. At the weekend, the field starts from the first hole only, between 8 a.m. and about 10.45 a.m.

A junior golf clinic for children at the course is planned for Saturday, 7 November. The trophy presentation on the 18th green is pencilled in for about 4 p.m. on Sunday, 8 November.

The organisers stress that the timetable is tentative. Several times are still to be confirmed.

Tickets and Prices

Tickets are sold through the tournament’s official ticket site, tickets.wwtchampionship.com, which both the tournament and the PGA Tour link to. All sales are final, and the seller says tickets are non-refundable under any circumstances.

General admission costs US$35 on Thursday or Friday, US$40 on Saturday and US$45 on Sunday. A pass for all four days costs US$139, which saves US$16 on buying each day separately.

Hospitality tickets cost more, and every child aged 3 or older needs one. The Clubhouse, inside The Woods restaurant by the first tee, costs US$119 to US$129 a day, food and drink extra.

Tacos on 17 by La Lupita, a party venue by the 17th green, costs US$199 to US$239 a day. Its listed food and drink include tacos, tequila, mezcal and beer.

The Skybox on the 18th green, with a buffet and open bar, costs US$399 to US$499 a day. Week passes cost US$399 for the Clubhouse, US$789 for Tacos on 17 and US$1,499 for the Skybox.

The seller lists all prices in US dollars. Buy only from the official site, because the no-refund policy leaves little recourse if plans change.

What to Bring and Leave Behind

Under PGA Tour rules, clear bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches are allowed. Opaque bags must be no larger than 6 by 6 by 6 inches.

Backpacks, cameras, coolers, outside food and drink, and oversized chairs are banned, and spectators are searched at entry. Collapsible chairs, umbrellas without sleeves and binoculars without cases are allowed.

Phones are allowed on silent, and photos and video are fine for personal use, but live streaming is not. Calls are allowed only in designated areas.

The organisers suggest casual golf clothes, comfortable shoes with soft spikes, a hat and sunscreen. They also recommend a light jacket for the mornings.

Getting There

Los Cabos International Airport is about 11 kilometres (7 miles) from San José del Cabo, according to its operator. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico says it serves both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

From downtown Cabo San Lucas, the organisers direct drivers onto the federal highway towards Todos Santos and La Paz. Turn left onto Paseo Acceso a Diamante about 300 metres after the municipal police station.

Drivers coming from the San José del Cabo toll road or from Todos Santos turn right onto Camino Acceso a Diamante instead. Signs then lead past the Diamante main gate to the general car park.

Taxis and ride-share drivers can drop passengers at the general parking and taxi area. The State Department advises against hailing taxis on the street and recommends ride-share apps, hotel bookings or authorised taxi stands.

Last year, general parking cost 100 pesos (about US$5.60), and a free shuttle ran from Plaza Pioneros at Hotel Medano. The tournament’s parking page still shows the 2025 timetable, so the 2026 arrangements are unconfirmed.

Conversions use Banco de México’s FIX rate of Wednesday, 7 October, 17.98 pesos per US dollar.

Entry Rules and Safety for US Visitors

US citizens need a passport book to fly to Mexico, the State Department says; a passport card is not valid for boarding. A visa is required only for visits longer than 180 days.

Mexican authorities issue a digital entry permit, known as the FMMD, at all international airports. Immigration officers decide on arrival how long a visitor may stay.

Currency worth more than US$10,000 must be declared on entry and on exit.

The State Department rates Mexico Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, in an advisory dated 29 May 2026. Baja California Sur, the state that includes Los Cabos, is also Level 2, because of terrorism and crime.

The advisory sets no specific travel restrictions for US government employees in the state. It advises using ATMs inside banks and watching for card skimmers in tourist areas.

Most hospitals and doctors in Mexico do not accept US health insurance, and Medicare does not pay for care there. The department strongly recommends extra insurance that covers medical evacuation.

Watching From the United States

In the United States, Golf Channel carries the tournament, with radio coverage on SiriusXM, according to the PGA Tour schedule. The tournament’s draft timetable shows live television from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time each day.

In November, Los Cabos keeps the same clock as Denver, seven hours behind GMT. That window is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the US East Coast and noon to 3 p.m. on the West Coast.

What It Means for You

In Los Cabos that week, a US$35 ticket on Thursday or Friday buys a full day of PGA Tour golf. Those two days have the full field before the cut, in morning and afternoon waves.

Book flights and hotels before tickets, since the seller offers no refunds. Fly on a passport book, not a card, and use ride-share apps or hotel taxis rather than street cabs.

If you cannot travel, Golf Channel shows about three hours of live coverage a day under the draft schedule. Fans planning a longer trip can pair it with the Mexico Open near Puerto Vallarta, played the week before.

What Is Not Known

The field is not set. PGA Tour players can commit until 4 p.m. on the Friday before tournament week, which this year is Friday, 30 October.

Tee times, the final television hours and the 2026 parking and shuttle plans have not been published. The seller’s checkout has lines for taxes and service fees, but the amounts are not shown in advance.

Mexico News Daily wrote in January that the Legacy Club was reportedly set to become the host course by 2027. Neither the tournament nor the PGA Tour has announced such a move.

What Comes Next

The Mexico Open runs from Thursday, 29 October, to Sunday, 1 November, and the Los Cabos field closes on Friday, 30 October. Play in Los Cabos begins on Thursday, 5 November.

After Los Cabos, the tour moves to the Austin Championship in Texas from Thursday, 12 November. The tournament does not change Mexico’s entry rules or the State Department advisory for Baja California Sur.
